Keep These in Mind

No bandage
Shower
hand wash
No Sweat
sun

Day 1 - 3

  • Keep the tattoo aftercare film (Saniderm, Second Skin, etc.) on your skin for 1 to 3 days.

  • It is waterproof, so you may shower with it, but try to avoid heavy sweating.

  • If water gets inside, your skin reacts, or the film begins to peel, remove it immediately.

  • Once removed, wash the area gently with clean, soapy water 1 to 2 times a day and pat it dry.

  • Keep the tattoo clean and dry for the first 24 to 36 hours.

  • Avoid applying any cream until the wound is fully closed.

  • Once the wound is healed and closed, you may begin the Day 3/4 Aftercare Routine.

Day 5 - 10

  • Continue moisturizing your tattoo twice a day to prevent dryness and cracking.

  • Keep the area clean and avoid touching it with unwashed hands.

Please avoid the following to ensure proper healing of your tattoo:

  • Do not pick, peel, or scratch your tattoo while it heals.

  • Keep it away from direct sunlight, and apply sunscreen only once it is fully healed.

  • Avoid soaking in bathtubs, pools, hot tubs, or saunas until the skin has completely recovered.

Day 3 - 4

  • Gently remove the tattoo aftercare film (Saniderm, Second Skin, etc.) under lukewarm running water.

  • Wash the tattoo with soapy water to remove any remaining ink and wound fluid.

  • If any adhesive from the film remains on your skin, avoid scrubbing. Instead, gently apply cream or coconut oil to help dissolve and remove it.

  • Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel, then apply a very thin layer of cream.

  • Use cream twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.

Why does my tattoo fade?

1. Your immune system

Getting a tattoo is not a natural process for the body. It recognizes the ink as a foreign substance, so your immune system gradually works to break down and disperse the ink over time.

2. The Sun

UV light is strong enough to break apart ink molecules, meaning tattoos that receive frequent sun exposure will fade faster than those protected by clothing.

3. Poor initial care and overall skincare

A few minutes of skincare each day can keep your tattoo looking vibrant for decades. Proper aftercare is one of the most important factors in long-term tattoo quality.

4. Friction and sweating

Not every area of the body is ideal for tattoo longevity. Places that experience constant rubbing, pressure, or moisture will fade more quickly. The more friction and contact, the more wear on the skin, and the faster the ink will break down.

Why do single-needle / fine line tattoos fade faster?

Single-needle and fine line tattoos are beautiful because of their subtle detail, precision, and softness.
However, compared to bold or traditional styles, they tend to fade more quickly—here’s why:

   1.    Less ink is deposited in the skin
Fine line work uses thinner needles and lighter pressure, which means the amount of ink placed into the dermis is lower.
Less ink = less saturation = faster fading over time.

 2.    Delicate lines are more vulnerable to aging
Thick lines hold up better as the skin ages, stretches, or regenerates.
Fine lines are subtle, so even small changes in the skin can noticeably soften the tattoo.

3.    Natural ink breakdown is more visible
The body’s immune system slowly breaks down tattoo pigment over the years.
In a fine line tattoo, where pigment volume is minimal, this breakdown becomes noticeable sooner.

4.    Placement and aftercare matter more
Areas with friction (wrists, fingers, ribs, feet) fade quicker.
UV exposure, dry skin, sweat, and poor aftercare accelerate fading—especially with fine line work.

 5.    Touch-ups are a normal part of the style

Because of their subtle nature, fine line tattoos often need refreshing to maintain crispness and contrast.
This isn’t a flaw—it’s simply how this style ages.
